Where Morning Light Lingers: Cheonggyecheon Dressed in “Morning Yellow” RE:SOBAN
2026. 05. 08
A gentle morning glow has gently settled over Cheonggyecheon Stream in Seoul.
LG Chem’s eco-friendly table, RE:SOBAN, returns to everyday life dressed in “Morning Yellow,” Seoul’s official color for 2026. While last year’s “Green Aurora” conveyed the soothing comfort of nature through its soft green tones, this year’s color brings a calm yet vibrant energy to the city—reminiscent of the morning sunlight that welcomes the start of a new day.
Placed along the streamside of Cheonggyecheon, RE:SOBAN invites visitors to pause for a moment, slow down, and embrace a sense of relaxation amid the city.
Now featured at the 2026 Seoul Outdoor Library, “Reading by the Clear Stream,” it once again creates a space where everyday moments and quiet rest come together.

This year’s RE:SOBAN, coloring the atmosphere of Cheonggyecheon, has been brought to life in “Morning Yellow,” Seoul’s official color for 2026.
Inspired by the morning sun that rises over Seoul each day without fail, “Morning Yellow” reflects the sense of comfort, inner calm and vitality that citizens seek amid the constant pace of change.
Like the fleeting moment when orange softly transitions into yellow at sunrise, the color conveys a quiet yet powerful energy that welcomes the beginning of a new day.
This year’s Seoul color was developed through an extensive process based on thousands of citizen-submitted images capturing Seoul’s morning sunrise. Using KSCA color standards and collaboration across various creative fields, Seoul refined a tone that balances warmth, calmness, and vitality.
LG Chem’s Color Design Team and Engineering Materials Color Development Team also participated in the development process, creating a sophisticated and highly refined color expression where material and color naturally harmonize.
Dressed in Morning Yellow, RE:SOBAN blends seamlessly with the reflections of water, sunlight, and the movement of people along Cheonggyecheon, bringing a warm and inviting atmosphere to the entire space.
Another distinctive feature of this year’s RE:SOBAN is the variety of moods the color can create depending on its finish – from a softly translucent glow that gently diffuses light to a calm and stable opaque texture.
For three consecutive years, LG Chem has applied Seoul’s signature city colors to RE:SOBAN, continuing its meaningful efforts to connect the colors of the city with the everyday lives of its citizens.

RE:SOBAN is an eco-friendly table created by LG Chem, extending sustainable material technology into everyday experiences.
Made with recycled plastic materials such as PCR ABS and PCR PC, RE:SOBAN embodies the value of resource circulation while demonstrating how discarded plastics can be reborn into entirely new forms.
The “RE” in RE:SOBAN carries multiple meanings—Reborn, Recycle, Reinterpret, and Recreate.
Created through a collaboration between LG Chem and artist Jihoon Ha, RE:SOBAN reinterprets the beauty of Korea’s traditional soban tables with a modern sensibility, allowing people to naturally experience sustainable values in their daily lives.
Designed for easy assembly and disassembly without bolts or adhesives, RE:SOBAN can also be conveniently recycled after use. It’s lightweight and refined design allows it to blend seamlessly into a wide range of lifestyles and spaces.
More than simply a piece of furniture, RE:SOBAN has become a symbol of LG Chem’s material innovation—connecting sustainability, design, and everyday experiences.

Along the refreshing sounds of flowing water at Cheonggyecheon lies “Reading by the Clear Stream.”
Together with Gwanghwamun Book Plaza and Seoul Plaza Library, it is one of Seoul’s three outdoor libraries, continuing for five years as a unique space where nature and reading come together in the heart of the city.
Stretching from Mojeongyo Bridge to Gwangtonggyo Bridge, the space offers visitors a moment to pause amid the fast pace of urban life and reconnect with themselves.
Rather than chasing constant stimulation, it is a place to focus on the senses and meanings that truly matter in the present moment.
This year once again, RE:SOBAN can be found throughout the space, making moments of reading, resting and simply staying a little more comfortable and memorable.
