Did you know that the planet and animals are suffering from plastic waste that people throw away?

According to market researchers, the global plastic waste management market size is expected to grow at an average annual rate of about 5.5% (2023-2030, CAGR).

As a response, regulations on the use of disposable plastics are tightening increasing worldwide.

Thanks to the movement, there is an increasing demand for biodegradable plastics, which are biomaterials made from vegetable raw materials and decompose within six months to two years.

To join this market trend, LG Chem developed a compostable material solution, ”COMPOSTFUL™.”

“COMPOSTFUL™” is a combination of the word “compost,” and the suffix “-ful,” which means “full of~.” It signifies that materials are composted quickly, becoming a foundation for sustaining fertile land.

LG Chem does not limit itself as a material-provider; is not just a company that provides materials; we offer products and solutions from a customer perspective as a partner throughout your journey to the sustainability business.

To this end, we have established 50,000-ton-per-year production facilities in our Daesan plant in Korea, and also plan to invest in 75,000-ton-per-year production facilities in Illinois, U.S.

By integrating raw materials based on production/technology infrastructure, we have developed various grades of products tailored to customer needs. Related processing tests are also underway to be used for various purposes, such as mulch films, shopping bags, and food packaging materials.

Based on this, “COMPOSTFUL™” has obtained various biodegradation certifications and complies with food contact material regulations in Korea, Europe, and China.
